The cardiac research unit spearheaded by eminent cardiologist DR MILIND GADKARI conducts research in a broad spectrum of cardiology.

Clinical trials are conducted in conjunction with global pharmaceutical research companies, International academic institutions and members of our clinical faculty. All research and clinical investigators on our faculty oversee that these studies are conducted in accordance with the ICH-GCP guidelines.

The research unit performs PHASE II, PHASE III and PHASE IV clinical studies in both drugs and devices

Protocols for these studies are approved for testing by the Federal Drug Administration, the local regulatory authorities and examined for ethical consideration by the Institutional Ethics Committee. The contractual arrangements for these studies are reviewed and approved by the KEM Hospital Research Centre.

The Cardiovascular Clinical Research Unit has over 15 years of experience and has conducted more than 26 global studies in all areas of cardiology, including congestive heart failure, unstable angina, stable angina, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, electrophysiology, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrythymias, Type 2 diabetes mellitus ACUTE CORONARY SYNDROME,DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS ACUTE AND PROPHYLAXIS and ATRIAL FIBRILLATION

The current studies include investigations of:

• Interventional devices for patients with coronary artery disease

• New compounds for the treatment of all aspects of heart disease, including: disturbances in cardiac rhythm, hypertension, acute decompensated heart failure, stable angina, Acute Coronary Syndrome with type 2 diabetes mellitus , chronic heart failure, dyslipidemia.
